A few weeks ago, the Mr and I did a quick roadtrip to Canberra. We were quite stumped for food so I Googled & look through UrbanSpoon and came across ├óÔé¼┼ôSmoque├óÔé¼┬Ø. The UrbanSpoon reviews were mixed but I was still keen to try it. Smoque restaurant is based around Southern American BBQ . I absolutely love Southern American food. While hoping an Italian family to adopt me, I hope a Southern American family will adopt me too, please? *puppy dog eyes*.



Bookings can only be made if you have groups of 6 and more. When booking a table, time seating are given as well.. We decided to rock up early in the night to avoid the rush. Luckily, when we arrived we nabbed the last table. By the time we left, the restaurant is noisy and packed.

Ordering food at Smoque is similar to a pub, order food at the cashier and get a number. Surprisingly, I couldn├óÔé¼Ôäót believe how fast the food came. It was under 10 minutes from the time we ordered!

To make things easier, we shared the BBQ Trifecta combo platter which serves between 1-2 people and Buffalo spicy wings. The BBQ combo platter consists of Pulled Pork, Pork Ribs, Brisket, and 1 side $39 and comes with two gherkins and 2 small cornbreads. For the side we picked the red coleslaw.

The BBQ Trifecta combo platter. The brisket wasn├óÔé¼Ôäót too bad but it wasn├óÔé¼Ôäót tender enough for my liking. The brisket did go well with the table BBQ sauce. I really enjoyed the pulled pork but Mr found it a bit dry in some parts, he preferred the version I made previously. When the mac and cheese arrived, the Mr was eating most of the pulled pork with the mac and cheese and found it tasted great together. Coleslaw and cornbread was mediocre but the winner was definitely the pork ribs! These were falling off the bone and drenched in a delicious sauce. We were both so sad we had to share this and wished we ordered a full rack of ribs! They are almost as good as the ribs at Hurricanes.

Regular Buffalo Hot Wings with Blue Cheese Aioli, Carrot & Celery Sticks $12.90. You can also order this in hot or suicidal spice level. I found the regular a bit too spicy for my taste buds but perfect for the Mr. The only thing I found with the wings was I wished it wasn├óÔé¼Ôäót as soggy but it was amazing when paired with the blue cheese aioli.

On top of the combo platter and wings we ordered the large mac and cheese. This was heavenly and very rich. I knew after one bite it would be very difficult to finish between two due to the richness. So I advise if there is 2 people to order the smaller one. The best bits of the mac and cheese are the crunchy burned bits. We were practically scooping out all the bits.

Although there was a mixed of hits and misses. We do want to return again and have the ribs! Service is also very friendly and food came out so fast :)
